A statement by Mr Samuel Aruwan, Special Assistant to Gov. Nasir El-Rufai on Media and Publicity in Kaduna, has revealed that the Government of Kaduna has imposed a 24 hour curfew on three local government ares of the state.
The places involved were listed in the statement as Zangon-Kataf, Kaura and Jema’a.
According to the statement, the State Security Council has also endorsed a ban on processions and unlawful assembly in any part of the state.
It stated that the council took the step based on credible intelligence reports about risks to lives and property in the affected areas.
The statement stated that after an emergency Security Council meeting on Wednesday, it was agreed to take the decisions for the benefit of the people.
Based on the statement, anyone or group of people found violating any of the orders who be arrested and prosecuted by the security agencies as they have received orders to do so.
According to the Council, the security operatives were to ensure their best practices in enforcing the orders that have been issued.
The meeting was also reported to have been chaired by Gov. El-Rufai, with the Deputy, Barnabas Bala and was attended by the State Commissioner of Police, Agyole Abeh and Mohammed Wakili, the Director of DSS.
Meanwhile, others who attended the meeting were Brig.-Gen. I. Isa, Commander, 1 Division Garrison, Nigerian Army; Rear Adm. T. T. Dakwat, Commandant, Nigerian Navy School of Armament, Kachia, and AVM Bello Garba, Base Commander, Nigerian Air Force, Kaduna.
