Reportedly, Sahara Reporters, through an online medium have recently released an audio report claiming/supposedly to be the voice of Gov. Wike pertaining to the Rivers elections.
However, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ibrahim Idris, has set up a panel to investigate and analyse the alleged audio comments by Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers State relating to the legislative re-run elections in Rivers.
Meanwhile, in a statement released by the Force spokesman, DCP Don Awunah, said the panel would also carry out investigations on the 70 incidents mentioned by the INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmud Yakubu, earlier during the elections.
Notwithstanding, he enjoined the Rivers State government and INEC to assist the panel with facts at their disposal to enhance the achievement of conclusive and comprehensive investigation.
“The election observers, civil society groups, Human Rights watchers and other stakeholders are equally called upon to assist the team with valuable information they may have.”
According to the reports by the News Agency of Nigeria, the panel headed by a Deputy Commissioner of Police, has 30 days to submit its report which would be made available to the public.
