The governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, according to source has been said to have revealed when the state would be conducting its local polls.
The Imo State Government will conduct local government election in 2017, as said on Wednesday, by Governor Rochas Okorocha.
Okorocha, who spoke at a news conference in Owerri, the Imo State capital, said election into the state’s LGAs was important because of the strategic role of the third tier of government.
He pointed out that the state government had concluded arrangements to pay pension arrears and workers’ November and December salaries.
He disclosed that as from 2017, his administration would pay workers either during the first week or the last week of the month.
He explained that his administration had set aside the sum of N15.5bn to pay pensioners and workers.
Okorocha said that his administration had studied the salary scales of workers in various South-East states, adding that his administration would evolve the best salary scale for the state.
He appealed to the clergy in the state to stop meddling in politics and face their calling.
