The president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has approved the appointment of Sidi Bage and Paul Gilinje, as Supreme Court’s judges on Friday.
It is expected that the two newly appointed justices, will be sworn in by the present Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Walter Onnoghen, by December 5.
The appointment of these justices have been said to be basede on recommendation by the National Judicial Council, on October 6, shortly before the endorsement of Mr. Onnoghen, whose name was forwarded to President Buhari, by the council.
Based on a signed and available statement by the Acting Director of Information, NJC, Soji Oye, on Friday, it is said by the council that Mr. Buhari had approved the appointments of the justices.
It also reviewed reliably that the swearing-in ceremo ny of the said justices would be holding on the 5th of December.
“As Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, , has approved the appointment Honourable Justice Sidi Dauda Bage, and Honourable Justice Paul Adamu Galinje.
The statement also said; “The two just appointed and approved Honourable Justices will be sworn-in by the Acting Honourable Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman of the National Judicial Council, Hon. Justice W. S. N. Onnoghen, CFR, on Monday 5th December, 2016 at 2.00 pm in the Supreme Court of Nigeria.”
