The anti corruption agency Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC, has been reported to have apprehended Mr. Victor Onofiok, who happens to be the Commissioner of Police in charge of Works Department over a N1.9bn fraud allegation leveled against him.
The Police Works department being in charge of all building projects across the country, including barracks, police stations and training schools, also happens to be the most funded in the police force.
Our correspondent told by a reliable and credible source within the EFCC revealed that Mr. Victor Onofiok, was arrested after he was asked by the police high commands to report to the EFCC for questioning as at November 30.
We were reliably told by a detective at the commission that The CP was arrested for allegedly giving contracts to companies with which he has interest in.
Source revealed that after been released for interrogation by the police commission on 30 November, “A serving Commissioner of Police, Victor Onofiok, is currently being grilled by operatives of the EFCC over a N1.9bn fraud. The now detained Onofiok, is the CP, who Works at the Force.
“The officer, who has been CP, Works since 2014, is alleged to have awarded contracts worth more than N1.9bn to companies in which he has interest. The companies include: Dutse Allah Construction Ventures, Nne-Edak Technical Ventures, Puristic Adherent Company, Quality Watch Construction Company and Faksene International.
“These entities are however figured out to be just business name and not limited companies as supposed to be.”
